It was established around 1861 and was used to haul pig iron from the Tannehill Ironworks. It was hauled by 8 team mule wagons 18 miles to the railhead at Montevallo, Alabama.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Much of my solos hike was in the beautiful Tannehill Historical State park.
