With all the rhetoric within politics these days I thought I might give my view on faith and politics. Some of my friends say that the church should never be involved in politics while other friends say we should. I agree with my friends!
Here is my opinion. I don’t think that the church should tell you who to vote for, but I do believe in encouraging you to vote for whoever you think will be an advocate to get the results you’re hoping for.
Some have said that we have forgotten that the crucifixion was a political act within itself. As the church, I believe voting on the candidate that you believe will best help this world be the world God intended it to be, is within our boundaries.
We must also understand that many will have to agree to disagree on who the best candidate may be. 🙂 Others will agree to disagree on how God intended this world to be! Go figure – where two or more are gathered… there will be a disagreement!
So what is one to do? Do your best to know the candidates. Know how they vote, etc… See if they are someone you can support. The reality? There will always be tradeoffs with every candidate.
With that in mind, here are a few national and local links. Keep in mind that there may be better links than these. I just want to encourage you to know who you are voting for.
Again, I don’t endorse any of these sites. I do not know their political angle either. I just offer them to encourage you to know your candidates! Check your own trusted sites, do your own homework! The ability to vote is a privilege that shouldn’t be taken for granted. Just look at other countries that are literally at war for the opportunity to vote!
